Student Status

Admission Deferral

Learners must submit an application for admission to the University of Illinois. This application is reviewed by both the Gies College of Business and the Graduate College. If admitted, the admission is applicable for that term only, however learners may defer their admission for up to one year (i.e., Spring to Spring).

Beyond one year, learners will be required to re-apply to the University of Illinois and Gies College of Business. Learners who enroll but do not complete a course are also required to defer or re-apply.

Holds

A hold may be placed on a learner’s account for multiple reasons. This may include, but is not limited to, financial encumbrance, failure to submit transcripts, low GPA, or disciplinary reasons. Holds may prohibit learners from making changes to their registration, requesting and receiving transcripts, or from graduating or completing their credential. Learners can look up any holds in the Registration of the Self-Service portal. To clear a hold, the learner must contact the department that placed the hold; this information can be found within the Self-Service portal.

Program Verification Letter

Gies Graduate Programs may provide a written verification to confirm an individual’s official admission status to the University of Illinois. This process ensures that only applicants who have received an official admission offer are recognized as admitted learners. Once admitted, Gies Graduate Programs can provide letters related to degree requirements, course completion, and degree conferral. Learners should use the Program Letter Request form.

Learners seeking confirmation of payment should email the University Bursar to request official verification of student billing, payments, and balance.
