Groups

Learners should complete the grouping preference form before the start of each semester. Groups are released on day 9 or 10 for the iMBA, iMSM, and iMSA programs. MSBAi learners should reference their Essentials Course and course syllabi for team information.

Group Assignment Changes

We are unable to adjust group assignments once groups have been published for a course or capstone. We use a matrix of all 168 hours of the week with each learner’s individual meeting preference when forming groups. It is important to complete the group preference form each semester and we encourage learners to specify more, rather than fewer, available hours to ensure you are put in a group that is compatible. The grouping preference form is available in the Gies Student Portal, Module 0 of your Canvas course, and the program's At-a-Glance newsletter.

Learners should contact their Instructional Support Team through i-support@illinois.edu for any concerns related to their group.

Group Formation in Capstone Courses

If a capstone course includes group-based assignments, learners can either be grouped by GGP or may form their own group. Once groups are formed, learners must communicate their group membership selections using an online grouping form sent to all eligible learners registered for the corresponding capstone. Instructions will be emailed to eligible and registered prior to the start of the capstone.
