MBA alumnus Dennis Beard helped position and procure success for Agrible

Jul 27, 2018, 03:53 by Gies College of Business

Just this past month, Gies College of Business alumnus Dennis Beard, ’94 MBA, helped foster some good news for a local digital agriculture company called Agrible. Based out of Champaign, Agrible sold for $63 million to Nutrien Ltd.

As a board member for Agrible since 2014, Beard was perfect for assisting during this transition. His knowledge of the company dates back to that time, because the venture capital firm where he is a managing partner, Serra Ventures, helped with seed funding. Indeed, Serra became Agrible’s first institutional investor in April 2014. Beard has even served as interim CEO for the past seven months.

“We’re extremely proud of what the Agrible team achieved and are grateful to have been part of their entrepreneurial journey,” Beard said.

Agrible provides expertise and services for growers and ag retailers to help with all the tough sustainability questions.
