Gies College of Business grants degrees three times a year -- in May, August, and December. You need to submit an application for graduation in your final term in order to place your name on the degree list and receive your diploma.

Agritourism hub Agrivoy claims Voitik Prize at Cozad New Venture Competition

Jeff and Forough Haskel, two University of Illinois iMBA students from Texas, turned a frustrating search for a Wyoming ranch vacation into a startup idea called Agrivoy — an “Airbnb for agritourism.” After developing the idea through the Cozad New Venture Competition, Agrivoy won the $3,000 Voitik Prize for online MBA-led teams.

Healthcare Innovation: How one iMBA student is improving the birthing experience

Galina Mihalkina, a Gies iMBA student, helped develop PeriAssist, a medical device aimed at reducing trauma during difficult childbirths by filling a gap between existing tools. As the project’s business lead, she handled strategy, stakeholder mapping, and commercialization, helping the team win awards and move toward funding and patents.

Mock Class: Understanding the Game You’re Playing: Strategic External Analysis

In this virtual mock live session, Professor Sandra Corredor will explore how external forces shape competition and profitability. Using Porter’s Five Forces, we’ll analyze industries from the outside in, learning how to identify threats, spot opportunities, and understand why some industries are more attractive than others. This session gives you a firsthand glimpse into the interactive, highly engaging coursework  that sets the Gies Online experience apart.

Meet Professor Sandra Corredor - Dr. Sandra Corredor is Associate Department Head and Teaching Assistant Professor of Business Administration at the Gies College of Business, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Her research examines how innovation drives corporate and international strategy, with publications in Strategic Management Review, Management Teaching Review, and Advances in International Management. At Gies, she teaches courses in strategy, innovation, and leadership across undergraduate, master’s, and online MBA programs. Recognized on the university’s List of Teachers Ranked as Excellent and named a Poets & Quants Best Undergraduate Professor in 2024, Dr. Corredor is passionate about helping students connect strategy and innovation to real-world impact.
