Summer 2026 Course Support Application Opens Friday

 The Gies iDegrees course support application for the position of Synchronous Course Assistant, Grader, and Plagiarism Reviewer for Summer 2026 will open on Friday March 6. If you are interested in being considered for a position that will begin in Summer, please complete the Course Support Application no later than Friday, March 20 at 11:59 pm CT. The application will provide job descriptions for each role. Please read the requirements of each role to determine eligibility.

 

Application Process:

  • Gies iDegrees Course Support Application form which opens Friday, March 6.
  • Even if you are currently working with us, you need to apply each term, so please make sure you apply before the deadline.
  • Those selected for a position will be notified via email.
  • Due to the volume of applications, late submissions will not be accepted.
  • If you work on a course, you will not be eligible to take it for credit as a student later.

Apply This Week to the Carle Capstone Project 

Applications are due soon for the 2026-2027 Carle Illinois College of Medicine (CIMED) Capstone Project—an unparalleled opportunity for iMBA learners to collaborate across disciplines and address real-world healthcare challenges. This year-long experiential learning course focuses on solving real healthcare challenges by developing innovative, marketable products. iMBA learners who participate in the Carle Capstone project will fulfill both of their specialization capstone requirements. Learners are encouraged to apply by March 9 at 11:59 pm CT.

Complete the AI and Academic Integrity Survey

The Gies Academic Integrity and AI Use Task Force invites learners to share feedback on the use of generative AI (GenAI) in Gies courses. Please complete this anonymous survey to help improve clarity, fairness, and learning. Your input will inform future guidance, resources, and policy recommendations. Access the Gies Online Programs Graduation Course

 Graduating in Spring 2026? You have been added to the Gies Online Programs Graduation Course! This course contains helpful information about graduation and your transition as an Alum. 

  • •            To enroll in the course, make sure to accept your email invitation from Coursera. Search your Illinois email for "Join Graduation Course." Please confirm that you are logged in to Illinois on Coursera before accessing the course link.

    If you are scheduled to graduate in Spring 2026 and have not received an invite to your Illinois email, please email i-support@illinois.edu.

     

    Spring Daylight Savings

    Daylight Saving Time begins in Illinois on Sunday, March 8. Clocks will move forward by one hour. If your region observes daylight savings, be sure to note the new time difference between your time zone and your assignment due dates which are in US Central Time.

    Your Canvas Course Page Has a Time Limit

    Canvas course pages are available for eight weeks from the end of the last course module, as stated in each course syllabus. After eight weeks from the end date, you will no longer have access to your course(s) dashboard in Canvas. Save any documents before that date for your personal archives. Your access to course content and videos in Coursera will not expire.

    Spring 2026 Specialization Certificate Release

    Gies Online is pleased to celebrate learners achieving milestones in their specialization coursework. Approximately, four weeks after final grades are released at the end of the Spring 1 term, eligible learners who have completed a specialization area in Spring 2026 will be sent a digital specialization certificate via Accredible to their Illinois email addresses.

    The HIDE Graduate Certificate is Here

    We are excited to announce that the Healthcare Innovation, Design, and Entrepreneurship (HIDE) focus area specialization has been approved as a graduate certificate and is now available as an embedded credential within the iMBA degree program. 

     

    Learners who select the HIDE focus area can now earn the graduate certificate while completing their degree, allowing you to earn an additional credential in healthcare innovation without extending time to graduation. You can view the three HIDE courses and descriptions on the iMBA program requirements page. 

     

    Earning an embedded graduate certificate involves completing two administrative steps outlined under the iMBA Program Requirements section titled "How to Earn an Embedded Graduate Certificate."

     

    If you are interested in pursuing this option, we encourage you to meet with a  Student & Academic Success Specialist to ensure you meet the requirements and plan for this option within your graduation timeline.

    Podcast: How Gig Work Fuels Entrepreneurship

    Recently, researchers Spyros Lagaras, a professor of finance at Gies College of Business at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, joined researchers Matt Denes from Carnegie Mellon University and Margarita Toutsoura from Washington University in St. Louis to take a closer look at how common it is for those who start these gigs, use them as a pathway to entrepreneurship. Their findings, which confirmed their suspicion, were published in National Bureau of Economic Research’s (NBER) Working Paper Series and the Journal of Financial Economics.Listen in for more information in this episode of Research Reverb
