New Study Finds Non-GAAP Earnings Disclosures Make M&A Deals More Efficient
A new study finds that non-GAAP earnings—financial results adjusted from standard accounting rules—play a role in successful and efficient mergers and acquisitions (M&As). The paper, titled “Right on Target: Is Public Disclosure of Non-GAAP Earnings Associated with M&A Efficiency?”, was published in Contemporary Accounting Research and is coauthored by Gies professor Ciao-Wei Chen. It offers early evidence that voluntary earnings disclosures can enhance real-world investment outcomes in M&A deals. Read more about the study here.

New research from Gies professors Zilong Liu and Hongyan Liang indicates that systemic biases and fundamental inefficiencies persist throughout the financial ecosystem.
