- To enroll in the course, make sure to accept your email invitation from Coursera. Search your Illinois email for "Join Graduation Course." Please confirm that you are logged in to Illinois on Coursera before accessing the course link.
If you are scheduled to graduate in Fall 2025 and have not received an invite to your Illinois email, please email i-support@illinois.edu. | University Closed: Labor Day | The University will be closed Monday, September 1, to honor the US labor movement and the contribution of workers to US society. Please refer to your course syllabi for assignment deadlines and live session schedules. University offices will be closed, and responses via email will be delayed during this time. We look forward to interacting with you on Tuesday, September 2, when the University reopens. Please note that there will be no newsletter sent on Monday, September 1. | December Gies Convocation Ceremony | The date of the December 2025 Gies Convocation Ceremony has officially been announced! The ceremony will take place on Friday, December 19, from 1:00 - 3:00 pm CT at the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts. Ceremony details, regalia, and registration information will be posted on the Gies Convocation web page later in the fall semester. Adding yourself to the Fall 2025 degree list (to earn your degree and diploma) is a separate process from registering for the convocation ceremony, which is optional to attend. |

Bucheli Wins Best Paper Prize | Marcelo Bucheli, professor of business administration at Gies College of Business, who teaches MBA 548: Global Strategy has been awarded the Global Strategy Journal Best Paper Prize for his influential article, “Political Connections, the Liability of Foreignness, and Legitimacy: A Business Historical Analysis of Multinationals’ Strategies in Chile.” Co-authored with Erica Salvaj of Universidad del Desarrollo in Santiago, Chile, the paper was originally published in 2017. The award honors articles published five or more years earlier that have made a lasting impact on teaching, research, and practice.
