Dean Jeffrey Brown Named Dean of the Year by Poets&Quants
Gies College of Business is pleased to announce that Dean Jeffrey R. Brown has been named the 2021 Dean of the Year by Poets&Quants, the preeminent information source on undergraduate and graduate business education. John Byrne, editor-in-chief and founder of Poets&Quants, made the announcement at a celebration in the Business Instructional Facility at the University of Illinois. Winter Break -- University Closed
The University will be closed December 24 - January 4 and all staff will be out of the office during this time. In addition, Express Advising will conclude for the semester on Friday, December 17. We look forward to connecting with you when the university reopens on Wednesday, January 5, 2022. Ambassador Applications Now Open!

Registration Deadlines
Spring Registration deadline is this Wednesday, December 15 for iMBA, iMSM, and iMSA non-ACCY electives.  iMSA registration deadline is Monday, December 20.  To ensure your access to classes when they Soft Launch, be sure to register by the deadline!  Need help picking out courses? Check in with a Specialist in a variety of ways to get answers to your questions.
Announcing Virtual Global Immersion Capstone - March 9-22, 2022
Travel with us virtually to Colombia for a 2-week capstone course starting March 9, 2022. Colombia, the third richest country in South America, has been undergoing a transformation over the past three decades. Despite its reputation stemming from drug trafficking, Colombia has been finding ways to reinvent its economy and change the way the world views them, investing in innovation, education, and technology.  This provides a very intriguing backdrop for our course!
Colombian MBA students will join you in this virtual course which combines interactive activities, lectures/discussions with Colombian professors, and a team case competition where you will work directly with a major Colombian company.
To secure your spot, please register and submit a $100 non-refundable deposit by completing this form by Wednesday, January 5.  (Total cost will be $500.) You will be notified of your acceptance by Monday, January 17.  If demand exceeds capacity, we will give priority based on seniority (credits earned) in the program.  If you are not selected, your deposit will be refunded.

Information Session for iMSA - ACCY 517: Financial Statement Analysis and Valuation
Nerissa Brown will host an info session for iMSA students to learn more about ACCY 517 - we will hold this session on WednesdayDecember 15 at 12p CT. Students can register here.

Taught by Dr. Nerissa Brown, ACCY 517 will cover topics that allow you to develop the skills to analyze and interpret financial statements to make informed business and investment decisions. In addition, you will learn to use a variety of tools to breakdown financial reports into meaningful units to forecast financial statements and valuation of a firm. Dr. Brown is the Academic Director for the BSA/MAS Program, a PwC Faculty Fellow, and an Associate Professor for Accountancy and has been recognized as Excellent Teacher by her students for the last two years.
